Rabbit boarding for Hoboken, NJ

Heading out of town from Hoboken? Your bunny stays close by in a quiet, rabbit-only home in West New York โ€” near enough that drop-off fits into the trip to the airport.

The Hoboken rabbit-care problem

Hoboken has no shortage of pet care. What it does not have much of is rabbit care. Search for a sitter and you will find dozens of dog walkers who tick a "small pets" box on their profile, which in practice means they will refill a bowl and hope for the best. Rabbits do not work that way. They are prey animals who hide illness until it is advanced, they cannot vomit, and a rabbit who stops eating for twelve hours is a genuine emergency rather than a picky eater.

That gap is why Bunny Comforts exists. Rabbits are the only animal I board, and I take one boarding household at a time. There is no kennel row, no dogs in the home, and no children. Your rabbit gets a quiet corner of a private apartment, their own routine, and someone who is watching for the right things.

Getting here from Hoboken

West New York sits about ten to fifteen minutes north of Hoboken depending on traffic. The simplest route is straight up JFK Boulevard East, which runs along the top of the Palisades with the Manhattan skyline on your right the whole way โ€” genuinely one of the nicer short drives in Hudson County, and a lot calmer than fighting through Union City on Bergenline.

Kennedy Boulevard is the alternative if you are coming from the western side of Hoboken or from Jersey City Heights. Either way you are avoiding the Lincoln Tunnel approach roads, which is worth doing at almost any hour.

If you do not drive, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail runs north out of Hoboken Terminal toward the Weehawken waterfront and a short rideshare covers the last stretch. Honestly, though, most Hoboken clients find a direct rideshare easier once you factor in a carrier in one hand and a bag of hay in the other.

A lot of Hoboken bookings are airport trips, and the timing works well for that: Newark is a straight shot down the turnpike from here, and dropping your rabbit off on the way out means one less thing to coordinate on the morning of a flight.

Apartment rabbits adjust well

Most Hoboken rabbits live in apartments or converted brownstones โ€” elevators, hallway noise, neighbours through the wall, the occasional fire alarm test. Rabbits who grow up in that environment tend to settle into a quiet apartment easily, because nothing about it is unfamiliar. The pen setup is deliberately close to what a well-set-up Hoboken living room already looks like: a 30-inch playpen on two large quilted mats, a blanket draped over one corner for shade, a tunnel, a plush toy, and a heavy ceramic bowl that will not tip.

If your rabbit has a strong attachment to their own enclosure, bring it. I would rather set up their pen than mine.

Medical and special needs

My own rabbit has megacolon, so motility medications, critical care syringe feeding, subcutaneous fluids and daily output monitoring are all part of my ordinary week rather than something I would need to learn for your rabbit. Medication administration is available for an extra $10 per day.

If your bunny has a history of stasis, a head tilt, arthritis, dental issues, or a diet that has to be followed to the gram, we will go through it at the meet and greet and plan the stay around it. I keep an exotic vet on call, and I know what the early signs of GI stasis look like โ€” which matters far more than knowing what to do once it is obvious.

What you get, every day

Boarding is $30 per night, plus $20 per night per additional rabbit, and bonded pairs always stay together. That covers unlimited hay, fresh water, pellets on your rabbit's schedule, fresh greens per their diet, two wellness checks a day, a morning photo, and an evening video. Medication administration is an extra $10 per day.

The daily video is the part Hoboken clients mention most. It is one thing to be told your rabbit is fine while you are three time zones away; it is another to watch them flop over on the mat and start grooming.
