The nearest rabbit-only boarding you'll find
Weehawken is a small town wedged between the Hudson and the Palisades, and it shares a border with West New York. In practice that means the drive to drop your rabbit off is shorter than the walk to most Weehawken parking spots — usually about five minutes, and rarely more than ten even when the Lincoln Tunnel approach is backed up.
That proximity changes what boarding can look like. Weekend trips become practical. A four-night work trip does not require a half-day of logistics. And if something comes up mid-stay and you want to swing by, you can.
What you get is a private apartment where your rabbit is the only boarding guest. No dogs, no children, no other client's rabbit. My own rabbit stays in my room behind a closed door for the entire stay, so there is no contact and no shared supplies.
Ferry and tunnel logistics
A lot of Weehawken residents commute or travel through Port Imperial, and the boarding space is a short drive up the hill from the ferry terminal. If you are catching an early NY Waterway boat or heading out through the Lincoln Tunnel, dropping your rabbit off first adds very little to the trip.
Coming up from the waterfront, Pershing Road and Boulevard East are the usual routes onto the top of the Palisades. From there it is a straight run north into West New York on JFK Boulevard East. I will give you the specific block to aim for when the booking is confirmed.
The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail's Port Imperial stop is also an option if you would rather not drive, though for most Weehawken clients a five-minute car trip is simpler than any transit alternative.
The space itself
Your bunny gets the quietest corner of the apartment. The setup is a 30-inch playpen sitting on two 48-inch round quilted mats — washable, and grippy enough that nobody slides around doing zoomies on tile. A soft blanket is draped over one side so there is always somewhere shaded to hide, which matters more than most people expect for a rabbit in an unfamiliar place.
Inside there is a crinkle tunnel, a plush toy to flop against, a heavy ceramic water bowl that will not tip, and a stacking cup for pellets and greens. Everything gets cleaned and reset between guests. If your rabbit would rather have their own enclosure, bring it and I will set that up instead.
Medical experience, included
My own rabbit has megacolon. Motility medications, critical care syringe feeding, subcutaneous fluids, and tracking output daily are all part of my ordinary week. Medication administration is available for an extra $10 per day.
If your rabbit has a stasis history, dental issues, arthritis, or a diet that has to be exact, we will plan around it at the meet and greet. I keep an exotic vet on call and I know what the early signs of GI stasis look like.
Rate and daily routine
Boarding is $30 per night, plus $20 per night for each additional rabbit, and bonded pairs stay together. Included: unlimited hay, fresh water, pellets on schedule, fresh greens per their diet, two wellness checks a day, a morning photo, and an evening video. Medication administration is an extra $10 per day.
Each wellness check covers appetite, output, posture and energy — the four indicators that tell you early when a rabbit is heading for trouble. Even for a two-night Weehawken stay, that is what you are actually paying for.
