Rabbit boarding for Secaucus, NJ

Up and over the Palisades, about fifteen minutes away โ€” and close enough to the turnpike that dropping off before a Newark flight barely costs you any time.

A short drive up the hill

Secaucus sits down in the Meadowlands; West New York sits up on the ridge above it. The two look further apart on a map than they feel in a car, because everything in between is a straight run up and over. For most of Secaucus that is about fifteen minutes.

Secaucus also happens to be one of the most travel-heavy towns in Hudson County โ€” the transit hub, the turnpike, the outlets, and the corporate offices all pull people out of town on a regular basis. Which is exactly the situation rabbit boarding exists for.

Your rabbit boards as the only boarding guest in a private apartment. Rabbits are the only animal I board. There are no dogs, no children, and no other client's rabbit in the space; my own rabbit stays behind a closed door in my room for the length of the stay, with no shared supplies and no contact.

Getting here, and the airport question

From central Secaucus, come up Paterson Plank Road or take County Avenue to the turnpike and up โ€” either way you climb the Palisades and drop straight into West New York. From the northern end near the transit hub, Route 3 and then north is usually simplest.

The useful part for Secaucus clients is the airport geometry. Newark is a straight shot down the turnpike from here, and West New York is only a short hop off it, which makes a pre-flight drop-off genuinely practical rather than a detour you resent. I would still leave a real buffer โ€” rabbits are not something to rush, and a calm ten-minute handover beats a hurried two-minute one.

If you are heading into the city instead, the Lincoln Tunnel approaches run right past, so a drop-off on the way is easy in that direction too.

What the stay looks like

The boarding space is the quietest corner of the apartment. Your bunny gets a 30-inch playpen set on two 48-inch round quilted mats โ€” washable, and grippy enough that nobody skids mid-binky. A soft blanket is draped over one side so there is always a shaded place to retreat to, which matters a lot to a rabbit in an unfamiliar room.

Inside the pen there is a crinkle tunnel, a plush toy to flop against, a heavy ceramic water bowl that will not tip, and a stacking cup for pellets and greens. Everything is cleaned and reset before each new guest. If your rabbit is attached to their own enclosure, bring it โ€” I will set that up instead, because familiar smells settle a nervous rabbit faster than anything I own.

New arrivals get left alone with hay and water for the first stretch rather than handled. Letting a rabbit investigate a new room on their own terms is usually the difference between settling that evening and taking a full day.

Medical needs are the default, not an exception

My own rabbit has megacolon, so motility medications, critical care syringe feeding, subcutaneous fluids and daily output monitoring are a routine part of my week. That is not a service tier here โ€” it is just how I keep rabbits. Medication administration is included in the nightly rate rather than billed as an add-on.

Rabbits with a stasis history, dental problems, arthritis, head tilt, or a diet that has to be followed exactly are all welcome. Bring the details and any prescriptions to the meet and greet and we will plan the stay around them. I keep an exotic vet on call, and I know what GI stasis looks like in its first hours rather than its last โ€” which is the part that actually changes outcomes.

Rate and updates

Boarding is $30 per night, plus $20 per night for each additional rabbit, and bonded pairs always stay together. That covers unlimited hay, fresh water, pellets on your rabbit's usual schedule, fresh greens per their diet, two wellness checks a day, a morning photo, an evening video, and any medication they need.

Each wellness check looks at appetite, output, posture and energy โ€” the four things that flag trouble long before a rabbit looks visibly unwell. If something is off, you hear it from me directly rather than spotting it in a photo. Not sure what to send along? There is a packing checklist here.
